Reddit rolls out Max AI ad campaigns to all advertisers, opens up API access

Advertisers using Reddit's Max campaigns have posted average cost reductions of 17% and conversion increases of 27% compared with standard campaigns, according to Reddit's internal data, and the company is now opening the AI-powered tool to every advertiser on the platform. Max launched earlier this year for a limited set of accounts, automating targeting, creative selection, placement and budget allocation from audience insights. The wider release adds access through Reddit's advertising API, brings on Smartly as the first third-party ad management platform to integrate with Max, and introduces asset groups, letting advertisers split creative into sets such as running shoes, training apparel and fitness accessories, each with its own headlines, media and destination URL and separate performance reporting.
Automated buying tools like Max put targeting, creative selection and budget pacing under algorithmic control, a pattern spreading across TV and video buying platforms as well as social. Teams already running Reddit spend through Smartly can execute Max campaigns from within that platform, and the asset group reporting gives a clearer read on which product lines or messages drive conversions. That data helps agencies justify budget shifts toward the platform when clients ask why spend moved.
