OpenAI's ChatGPT ads hit a $1 billion annualized run rate this week, while TikTok opened its Agentic Hub marketplace with 14 launch partners and Comscore began tracking sponsored ChatGPT placements, finding hotel brands hit 24% visibility in May. Elsewhere, Rouge Care turned a $25,000 CTV buy into more than $125,000 in sales, and Halo Collar is expanding into 2,000-plus stores while spending nearly 30% of revenue on marketing.
Case Rouge Care spends $25,000 on AI-run CTV buy, books $125,000 in sales
Red-light therapy brand Rouge Care spent $25,000 on connected TV ads during a second-quarter 2026 awareness campaign and generated more than $125,000 in attributable sales, according to Samuel Bonneau, senior copywriter at Rouge Care. The campaign carried a target return on ad spend of 250% and delivered 500%, Bonneau told Adweek. "The campaign delivered 500%, resulting in over $125,000 in attributable sales against that spend, doubling our goal," Bonneau said. Ad agency Klever Programmatic built the campaign through PubMatic's AgenticOS, the sell-side platform's AI infrastructure for media buying. Within AgenticOS, the platform's own dedicated bot handles tasks such as audience discovery.
Nigeria launches Peoplemeter TV audience measurement system in Lagos
FMEIL-GARB has begun installing Peoplemeter devices in Lagos households, the first phase of Nigeria's new Audience Measurement System, AMS. The rollout follows a 60,000-household Establishment Survey across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, completed in 2023, which included 7,000 homes in Lagos and covered all 774 local government areas. The devices replace Nigeria's diary-based viewership tracking with automated, daily data on programmes watched, viewing duration and audience demographics. FMEIL, licensed by the National Broadcasting Commission and the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria, built the system with Bulgarian technical partner GARB. ARCON director-general Olalekan Fadolapo said the shift would let advertisers and agencies assess campaign effectiveness and cost efficiency: "We have gone past the age of guessing estimates." The NBC plans to extend audience panels beyond Lagos nationwide.
Comscore starts tracking sponsored ChatGPT ads, finds hotel presence hit 24% in May
Comscore expanded its AI Intelligence platform to track sponsored ad placements inside ChatGPT and other AI assistants, adding a paid-visibility layer to a dataset that previously covered only organic citations. The company's analysis of hotel-related ChatGPT prompts found sponsored-ad presence rising from 6% in March 2026 to 14% in April and 24% in May, a fourfold jump in three months. Comscore ties the data to an opt-in panel that connects real chat sessions to downstream consumer behavior, including site visits that follow an AI exposure. Chief Technology and Analytics Officer Smriti Sharma said the tool helps businesses understand how paid and organic visibility coexist and whether exposure translates into consumer action. ChatGPT accounted for about 69% of unique visitors among AI assistants in June 2026, per CustomIQ data Comscore cited. The move follows similar ad-tracking findings from Similarweb and Adthena on ChatGPT's growing ad load.
MediaPost column: 'agentic' ad platforms are rebranded programmatic tools
A MediaPost Research Intelligencer column, published September 3, 2026, argues that ad platforms taking more than 70% of advertisers' transaction dollars cannot claim the title 'agentic.' The piece traces the term back over a decade to self-styled 'programmatic' vendors, crediting industry veteran Irwin Gotlieb's data-driven buying at Mediavest, Mindshare and Group M while accusing later entrants of hiding principal trading behind dashboards and inflated attribution claims. Agentic systems require autonomy to act independently toward a specific goal, the authors write, and platforms that retain most of the transaction value fail that test. One of the column's authors states: 'AI can make decisions, but in no way should authenticate its own performance.' The column calls for independent verification as agencies and advertisers hand more buying authority to AI systems, warning that speed and automation alone do not create transparency.
TikTok Opens Agentic Hub Marketplace for AI-Powered Ad Tools
TikTok has launched Agentic Hub, a marketplace built on its Business MCP server that lets advertisers manage campaigns using native and third-party AI-powered ad tools. Fourteen partners have already built and published agents on the platform, including HubSpot, Wix, Constant Contact, Innovid and Kochava. The AI agents analyze campaign data and turn it into recommendations for creative, campaign creation, performance analysis and catalog management. TikTok says the MCP setup lets advertisers use ready-made agents, called Skills, build their own custom Skills, or connect an agent directly to TikTok Ads without writing code. The launch follows TikTok's introduction of an MCP server about a month before Pinterest and Snap announced their own platform-specific versions. Meta, Pinterest and Snapchat have each pushed AI agent integration into ad buying over the past year, positioning agentic tools as a new layer of automated campaign management across major ad platforms.
OpenAI's ChatGPT ads reach $1 billion run rate as advertisers seek better measurement
OpenAI's advertising business reached a $1 billion annualized revenue run rate this week, the company said, a milestone for a unit that is roughly six months old. The figure counts only actual advertiser spending, since OpenAI confirmed to AdExchanger that ad credits given to early clients are excluded. It falls short of OpenAI's own earlier estimates of $2.5 billion in ad revenue for this year and $100 billion by 2030; eMarketer projects $5.41 billion by 2030. Agency executives told AdExchanger that closing the gap depends on better measurement: competitor benchmarking data, deeper conversion tracking and integrations with third-party MMM and incrementality tools. OpenAI has added a conversion API and conversion-optimized campaigns aimed at reach, clicks or conversions, but advertisers say tools for prompt-level trends and audience suppression are still missing. Many are keeping ChatGPT ad budgets in test allocations until measurement matures.
Case Halo Collar to expand into 2,000+ stores, spends nearly 30% of revenue on marketing
Dog collar brand Halo Collar plans to expand from 50 PetSmart locations and Scheels stores into more than 2,000 retail locations next year, CMO Seth Solomons told AdExchanger. The company, founded in 2018, has grown annual revenue 35% to 40% in recent years and puts nearly 30% of that revenue into marketing. Collars average $500, yet the brand's customers have an average household income of roughly $86,000, a gap Halo Collar tracks by piping first-party data from Snowflake into third-party sources like Equifax. Amazon purchase signals, Meta lifestyle data and a roster of about 100 creatives help the brand target ads across channels, while Northbeam measures incrementality across a 30-to-45-day purchase window. Unaided brand awareness sits at 17%, and Solomons wants it at 25% to 30% before the retail push accelerates. Live sports advertising, including NASCAR and college football, is next on the marketing roadmap.
Google's WeatherNext 3 boosts forecast resolution to 5km, hourly across Search, Maps
Google DeepMind's WeatherNext 3 model now produces hourly weather forecasts on a 5-kilometer grid for temperature and moisture, five times sharper than the 25-kilometer, 6-hour WeatherNext 2 it replaces. The model draws on real-time satellite data and powers forecasts inside Google Search, the Gemini app, Google Maps, Google Maps Platform and Google Cloud. Developers can pull the underlying data through BigQuery, Earth Engine and Google Cloud Storage. Google's announcement left the advertising application open. MediaPost points to real-time creative swaps as a likely use, such as a fast-food chain switching from hot coffee to iced coffee ads when a 5km zone spikes in temperature, or hardware and ride-share ads triggering when wind and rain hit one neighborhood while a nearby suburb stays dry.
YouTube's huge video inventory delivers weak ad attention, afaqs! analysis finds
A guest analysis published by afaqs! argues that connected TV advertising in India is entering an attention-driven phase, with placement in premium content determining ad performance more than total inventory volume. The piece cites a report from R.K. Swamy on India's digital video advertising ecosystem, which found that despite a large market, actual brand recall from that spend stayed low. YouTube, the largest video-sharing platform by inventory, ranks among the weakest performers on attention metrics, the analysis says, because much of its content is user-generated and consumption of categories like children's rhymes and music leaves ads heard but unwatched. Connected TV, built as an extension of linear broadcast, defaults to high-definition, premium programming that commands stronger attention. Written by Somendu Singh, Chief Contributor at CTV SCALE, the piece frames attention as the metric advertisers should build strategy around as CTV adoption accelerates in India.
Pro TV changes ad target audience to 20-60, reaching 7.6 million Romanians
Pro TV will sell advertising against a national audience of 20 to 60 year olds starting next year, replacing the 21-54 target it introduced in 2021. Florin Alexandrescu, Chief Business Officer of Pro TV, announced the change at Press Day 2026, describing the new group as 7.6 million active Romanians, 20% larger than the previous target. The station reported a 0.5 point gain in all-day market share for the first seven months of 2026 and a 25.3% share in Core Prime Time, with audience 75% higher than its main competitor. VOYO, the group's streaming platform, passed 150 million hours watched in the same period, more than double last year's volume and equal to 12% of Pro TV's linear viewing. Pro TV plans to sell advertising across linear, VOYO, its websites and social media as a combined offer.
