Google unveils Google Pics, an AI image design tool for Workspace and Google AI users

Nano Banana, Google's image generation model, powers Google Pics, a new tool for creating and editing images that Google is rolling out as part of Google Workspace for business customers and for premium subscribers of Google AI. TechCrunch reported, citing company data, that the app is built for everyday design tasks such as posters and social media posts, with functionality similar to Adobe Express and Canva. Google Pics supports collaborative editing and lets users generate several different versions of a requested image.

Teams that produce posters and social posts can now do that work inside the same subscription that already covers Gmail, Docs and Meet. Google Pics reaches only Workspace business customers and premium Google AI subscribers, which limits how many marketers get access without upgrading. Google paired the launch with Ask Ad Manager, a Gemini-based assistant announced in June that helps marketers read campaign analytics faster, pointing to a broader push into AI tools across creative and measurement tasks.
