3Play Media: AI dubs hit 30 million YouTube watch hours, beat English by 24%

More than 30 million hours of 3Play Media's AI-voiced dubs have been watched on YouTube. Across eight languages over a two-month period, those dubs achieved 24 per cent higher average view duration than the original English-language tracks, the video accessibility and localisation company said. "The data shows that audiences are choosing and engaging with AI-dubbed content," said Erik Ducker, VP of Product Growth at 3Play Media. Chris Antunes, 3Play's Co-founder and Co-CEO, said YouTube creators follow this same data: when a dubbed language underperforms the source track, they stop investing in it. The dubs are built on human-in-the-loop workflows, where trained linguists shape voice, tone, timing and cultural adaptation, and 3Play's speech-to-speech editing lets its network of linguists refine every character's AI voice within a single session.
Campaigns can now treat dubbed video as genuine reach in markets that stayed English-only because localisation cost too much to justify. Agencies planning cross-border video buys can budget for local-language versions with more confidence that viewers will watch them through, and media owners can extend content into new-language markets at a viable cost. Measurement matters here: brands need audience analytics and attribution that confirm the extra view duration 3Play reports also converts into brand lift and revenue, which is what justifies the added localisation spend.
