Comcast Advertising, Adara launch deterministic TV measurement for travel advertisers

Comcast Advertising and Adara, a RateGain company, launched a partnership Thursday that pairs premium video viewing data with first-party travel booking data to measure return on ad spend for TV and streaming campaigns. Comcast calls it the first deterministic measurement tie-up of its kind for the travel industry. A tourism bureau serving Florida's Space Coast piloted the approach, targeting families interested in domestic travel, and generated 505,571 hotel searches, 62,000 bookings and nearly $23 million in revenue, a return of nearly 13x on ad spend. Adara supplies two billion traveler profiles, three billion searches and 180 million annual bookings to power its Traveler Value Score. Dawn Williamson, Comcast's chief revenue officer of media solutions, said travel TV measurement has lagged search and social. The deal follows earlier attribution partnerships with Mastercard and automotive data firm Clarivoy.

AI bot traffic on websites jumps from 8% to 13% of sessions, 51Degrees finds

AI harvesting bots accounted for 13% of all web sessions in the 12 months leading up to May 2026, up from 8% a year earlier, according to data from UK technology firm 51Degrees. The company analyzed more than 3 billion website visits and found AmazonBot the most active crawler, representing 4.1% of sessions, followed by Meta-ExternalAgent at 2.9% and Microsoft BingBot at 1.35%. Anthropic's bot accounted for 0.19% of sessions, OpenAI 0.09%, Perplexity 0.04% and Google Gemini 0.0003%. Google also uses its search bot to harvest content for AI, a figure not included in 51Degrees' count. James Rosewell, CEO of 51Degrees, said "AI bots impose costs on publishers twice," once through bandwidth used in scraping and again when they divert traffic toward AI-generated results. Cloudflare data from earlier this year put agentic AI bot requests at 57.4% of global web traffic.

News: Google to count display ad impressions by begin-to-render from February 17, 2027

Google to count display ad impressions by begin-to-render from February 17, 2027

February 17, 2027 is when Google switches display ad impression measurement from count-on-download to begin-to-render across Google Ad Manager and AdSense. The shift covers banner inventory on web, mobile web and connected TV. Count-on-download registers an impression the moment a creative starts downloading, even if a user leaves the page before it loads. Begin-to-render counts an impression only after the creative has loaded and started to render, so publisher impression totals are likely to drop, though Google has not set a standard percentage. Publishers can measure the gap now: Google recommends running historical reports dated after August 12, 2026, split by demand channel, inventory format and device category, comparing ad-server impressions with begin-to-render impressions. Begin-to-render signals a greater chance that an ad could be seen; viewability is measured separately, against time and threshold criteria.

LoopMe adds Brand Lift measurement to The Trade Desk in 35+ markets

LoopMe launched a direct integration with The Trade Desk's Measurement Marketplace on September 2, 2026, bringing its Brand Lift product into The Trade Desk's campaign workflow. The tool runs standardized brand lift studies across more than 35 markets and 17 languages, letting advertisers compare campaign performance across regions using one methodology. Studies become feasible from 1 million impressions, well below the 3-4 million impression minimums other providers require in many markets. Results update every 24 hours inside The Trade Desk dashboard, with data available as early as 10 days after launch and broken out by age, gender, device, creative, ad group and campaign ID. Advertisers set up and launch studies during standard campaign setup, with no separate contract or additional platform login required. Matthew Deets of LoopMe said the partnership provides 'the rigorous standards needed to trust uplift data' at a scale usable across regions.

News: Reddit Adds 15-Second Engaged Video View Goal for Advertisers

Reddit Adds 15-Second Engaged Video View Goal for Advertisers

Reddit is rolling out a 15-second engaged video view optimization goal for advertisers, expanding on its existing 6-second view goal. Now in public beta within Ads Manager, the feature counts an engaged view when a user watches at least 15 seconds of a video longer than 15 seconds, or completes a video that runs 15 seconds or shorter. Reddit says the goal is built to reach users "more likely to keep watching," aimed at brands with longer stories to tell, including trailers, product demos, testimonials and brand storytelling in categories like film, TV and gaming. In early testing, Reddit reported a 51% boost in 15-second view-through rate and a 71% boost in video completion rate. Advertisers can now run split tests in Ads Manager comparing the 15-second goal against the 6-second one, and Reddit says shorter creative still fits campaigns built around an immediate message.

News: Kantar: 11 official World Cup sponsors saw almost no rise in awareness

Case Kantar: 11 official World Cup sponsors saw almost no rise in awareness

FIFA collected about $2.7 billion in sponsorship and marketing-rights revenue during the 2023-2026 World Cup cycle, and brands spent an estimated $1.4 billion on World Cup-related advertising in the US, with nearly 7,000 brands advertising around the event. Kantar's tracking study found awareness barely moved among the 11 official partners and sponsors it measured during the tournament. Kantar found no meaningful gap in creative effectiveness between sponsors and non-sponsors, meaning activation quality mattered more than rights status. Coca-Cola built its Trophy Tour campaign across advertising, social, retail and events and posted its strongest volume growth in 17 years outside the post-COVID recovery. Nike, without official FIFA rights, entered the tournament with 75% buzz among 18-34s after its Wieden+Kennedy film "Rip the Script" launched a week before the opener. Kantar treats sponsorship rights as an entry point and activation as the factor that decides outcomes for Super Bowl LXI, the 2027 Women's World Cup and LA28.

News: Brandience VP says the middle of the marketing funnel is shrinking

Brandience VP says the middle of the marketing funnel is shrinking

Danyelle Horrillo, vice president of digital and programmatic media at Brandience, says consumer buying journeys now compress into minutes, a shift from the weeks-long research cycles marketers once counted on. Writing in Marketing Insider, republished by MediaPost on September 4, 2026, she says shoppers discover a brand, research it, validate it through reviews, compare alternatives and decide before a brand even knows they exist, using search engines, social platforms, review sites, comparison tools and AI assistants along the way. Horrillo calls the middle of the funnel a shrinking stage, with consideration happening faster and largely outside a brand's view. She points to the postpurchase phase as a new growth engine: customers leave reviews, create social content and recommend products, generating awareness for the next wave of buyers. "Today's customers power tomorrow's awareness," she writes. Her recommendation: treat the funnel as a flexible guide for messaging and measurement.

E-Promo Group: click cost splits from campaign cost in 4 of 5 industries in Q2 2026

E-Promo Group analyzed more than 103,000 ad campaigns with a combined budget above 8 billion rubles and found that click price no longer reliably signals what a completed action will cost. In the second quarter of 2026, cost per click and cost per action moved in opposite directions in four of five sectors studied: ecommerce, finance, pharmaceuticals, real estate and tourism. In finance, CPC rose 29.3% year over year while CPA fell 5.6%. In tourism, CPC climbed 33.3% while CPA dropped 7.2%. Real estate showed the widest gap: CPC fell 11.8% while CPA jumped 29.4%. Pharmaceuticals was the only sector where both metrics rose together, CPC up 52.1% and CPA up 50.4%. E-Promo's Larisa Yashina said, "A pricey click sometimes brings a better result than a cheap one."

News: India's ₹1.55 lakh crore ad market has a measurement problem, digital wins by default

India's ₹1.55 lakh crore ad market has a measurement problem, digital wins by default

India's advertising industry, valued at Rs 1.55 lakh crore, lacks a common measurement standard across television, print, out-of-home and digital channels. Without a shared yardstick for reach and outcomes, budgets skew toward digital platforms, which offer built-in tracking and reporting that traditional media cannot match. Media buyers can measure a display or video campaign down to the click. A television spot or a print ad depends on aggregated panel data that lags months behind the campaign itself. The gap pushes spend toward digital by default. Digital's traceability captures budget even when television, print and out-of-home reach comparable or larger audiences. Planners lack a common language to compare a TV spot's reach against a digital impression's click. Until India's ad industry builds consistent, cross-media measurement, digital platforms will keep absorbing a growing share of the Rs 1.55 lakh crore market on visibility alone.

News: Avito lets ad agencies manage promotions for 700,000 self-employed sellers

Avito lets ad agencies manage promotions for 700,000 self-employed sellers

Avito has opened its Avito Promo agency platform to more than 700,000 self-employed sellers on the marketplace, the company told AdIndex. Agencies could previously buy promotion for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs listed on Avito Tovary, Avito Uslugi, Avito Rabota and Avito Spetstekhnika. Nikolai Sentyurin, head of Avito's agency and strategic partner division, said the new segment "opens new growth opportunities for all sides." Self-employed sellers can now hand promotion work to an agency and focus on running their business. Agencies working with self-employed clients can choose a "payment on client" model, where the seller's account covers the cost, across all four categories, or a "payment on agency" model in Tovary, Uslugi and Spetstekhnika. Russia's self-employed population grew more than a quarter in 2025.
